Bansuri flute and cosmic chanting meet house in this genre-bending groover by maestro producer and Razor-N-Tape co-owner JKriv. ‘Birth of Shiva – JKriv Remix’ is a remix of legendary Indian composer R.D. Burman’s track of the same name. Taken from ‘Shiva Ka Insaaf’ (Shiva's Justice), a 1985 Bollywood film billed as “India’s first Hindi 3-D movie” about a superhero named Shiva who bears a striking resemblance to Zorro. Working on the very track used when Shiva is bestowed with superhero status, JKriv throws in synth stabs, an epic bassline and other plot twists along with R.D. Burman’s brilliant and lush arrangements. The result is a killer and imaginative dance remix.

Established in 1982, CBS Gramophone Records & Tapes (India) Ltd. became an accidental home of sorts for established composers to be experimental, up-and-coming composers to make their mark, B-movie soundtracks and straight-to-VHS releases. Out June 2023, 'Awaaz: Original Soundtrack Recordings From The Archives Of CBS Gramophone & Tapes India 1982-1986', captures the wonderful electronic, disco and ambient sounds of a label that put out great music that was different.
