The Dutch masters of nu disco, funk, house and all things in-between transform Asha Puthli’s ‘Lies’ into a breathtaking balearic anthem. This is the fifth and final single from Naya Beat’s forthcoming and essential album featuring remixes of the legendary Indian vocalist Asha Puthli.

Taken off her eponymously titled first solo album, ‘Lies’ is Asha Puthli’s second cover of a J. J. Cale song (the famed American guitarist, singer, and songwriter). Equally the acid jazz classic as ‘Right Down Here’ (her other J. J. Cale. cover), Asha’s ‘Lies’ adds booming horns, funk swagger and her powerhouse vocals to Cale’s original – a mix of folk, shuffling country blues, and rock ‘n’ roll about a forlorn lover caught in a tangled web of cheating and deception. Kraak & Smaak – the Dutch powerhouse trio that gifted us classics like ‘Stumble’ and ‘Don’t Want This To Be Over’ – take Asha’s track to new heights. Bringing the might of their unique flavour of jazz, funk and disco tinged electronic music, Asha Puthli’s ‘Lies’ is transformed. Fat-bottomed drums and bass unfold with a dub swagger beneath an ecosystem of cosmic synths, jazz-inspired chords and Asha’s dramatic vocals. The result? A breathtaking and beautifully lush balearic anthem. This is a future classic equally at home at a beach or poolside sundowner as at the peak of a sweaty club session.
