Space . . .
Taking a space walk
Still, looking for love
Venus, please help me
S.O.S. planet, I need someone right now
Strange . . .
You give me strange thoughts
Space, give me some space
Now that I feel you
Let’s make it happen some more, we’ll get so high
Slow . . .
Time, moves so slowly
Slick, sharp as a blade
Cutting through my life
When I’m alone time moves on, stretching my age
Sleek . . .
Steel sheet of water
Shine, shine energy
Electric fingers, searing my soul
Static shock, make love to me . . .
Taking a space walk, space talk, taking a space walk space
about
Maverick producer Maurice Fulton delivers a scintillating, raw and primal take on Asha Puthli’s Loft classic ‘Space Talk’. This is the second single from Naya Beat’s forthcoming and essential album featuring remixes of the legendary Indian vocalist Asha Puthli.
Be it the world of disco, rare groove or hip hop, ‘Space Talk’ is one of those rare tracks that transcends time, genre and place. A track equally at home in David Mancuso’s The Loft as in the hands of afro cosmic pioneers Beppe Loda and Daniele Baldelli. A track that has been sampled by The Notorious B.I.G and P Diddy, 50 Cent, and Redman. Who better to reimagine one of the original underground classics than Maurice Fulton? A producer’s producer, Fulton has worked with everyone from Nuphonic and Warp to DFA and more recently Peggy Gou’s Gudu Records. Known for his rhythmically inventive, textured and left of centre productions, Fulton delivers a scintillating take on this masterpiece. Reminiscent of the early remixes of seminal New York producer Walter Gibbons, there is a raw, primitive energy to Fulton’s mix. Live drums and jumbled percussion are lit up with soulful chords as Puthli's cosmic vocals seduces up top. This is steamy body music for late-nights. A new classic in its own right.
